A Meteor Shower This Weekend vs Ilderton
This past weekend the Synders Graphics Peewee Girls played a back to back series vs the Ilderton Jets and finished on top!
On Saturday the team traveled to Komoka to take on the Ilderton Jets. This game was a total domination from start to finish for our high flying Meteors as they played amazing in front of our goalie Makayla Beuerman to limit Ilderton to only 5 shots during the whole game. Neither team would score in the opening period but the second period was much different as we would score three times to take the lead 3-0 after the second. Maggie Price took a beautiful shot from the point to open the scoring off the stick of Taya Cornish. Emma French and Taya Cornish would each add their marker from the help of Erica Pletch. With the lead in the third, the girls continued to play great hockey and pressed forward to allow Alexa Hahn and Emma French to add to our lead and take the win 5-0. Great team effort! The rematch was set for the next night on our turf in Monkton.
Sunday night and the girls were keen for the win, ready to face off again the gals took control right from the start to head down to the Jet's end to score. Taya Cornish would net the first one from the help of Alexa Hahn and Maggie Price, way to go girls, let's keep this momentum going! As the period was drawing near the end, Emma French would get that little black disk tucked in around their goalie to give us the 2-0 lead, this play would not have been possible without the help from linemates Erica Pletch and Brooklyn Gethke. With the second and third period still left to be played the girls continued to take control and not allow Ilderton much room to do anything. As in the previous game our gals would only allow the Jets to take 4 shots on our goalie. With numerous of attempts from the team, the buzzer would sound with us winning the game and shutting Ilderton down 2-0. Great game girls, way to finish your playoffs! With these wins the girls would finish in first place in their division giving them a spot in the division championship. Now we just have to wait to find out who we are going to face and when.
I would like to congratulate everyone on the team as you have all pulled together to finish the season off on a strong note. Also a big thank you to our coaching staff - Jamie Gethke, Jamie Gibbings, Pete Price, Dawn Pletch and JoAnne Horan for all the support you have given the girls during this season.
So, let's get ready for our division championship and bring home the hardware! Go Peewee girls Go!
