Weekend Update
The Snyder’s Graphics PeeWee girls have had a couple of close games in the last week.   A tie and a loss would be added to our record.

Last Sunday night in Monkton the return of Lambeth would be on the team’s mind as we had a back and forth battle with them all last season and eventually ended with us on top.  But this year would be another adventure as this was going to be the start of a new story!

Puck dropped and play was well on its way, our Meteors dominated this game from start to finish but with each of our players doing what they could and taking numerous shots at the goalie and their net we just couldn’t seem to get the break we needed to get on that scoreboard.  Two periods played and the scoreboard hadn’t changed since the beginning of the game. Third period was much the same as the previous two periods as each team had chances but our mighty mite goalie, Makayla Beuerman was in the right place at the right time to shut down those Lambeth girls and the same for their goalie, it was a goalie’s duel but neither would give.  The period came to an end without a change in the score – it ended where it started at a dead lock of 0.  Wow, what a nail bitter of a game as we had so many close chances but just didn’t have that lucky break to knock that puck in the net.

As this was our last game in our first half of the season, we would soon find out which teams we were going to have to face for the remainder of our season.

We were placed in a pool with teams from: Lucan, BCH, Kent County, B.A.D, Bluewater, Ilderton and Lambeth.

Regular season would start with a game against Lucan last night in Monkton.  The girls didn’t start this game with the same determination as they had the previous game but luckily nobody would get on the scoreboard in the first period.  Second period was fairly even with play back and forth between both ends but Lucan would get on the board first with a sharp shot on our goal.  They were leading, but with some good puck movement up the ice and a quick shot on net by Emily Haefling, Alexa Hahn would be right there in front to tap in the rebound and even the score at 1. Phew, we were finally on the board.  The remainder of this period would produce nothing as we would start the third and final period with 12 minutes left in the game tied at 1.    During the final period our girls seemed to have a few unclear moments and bobbles of the puck to allow Lucan to get the go ahead goal.  With time coming to the end and just seconds left on the clock, we pulled our goalie to load up the lines as the puck drop was down in their end, puck was dropped and we would scramble to get procession and Emma French fired her shot but the clock buzzed and then the puck hit the back of the net.  We were so close, just needed that extra second on the clock.  Game was done with us down 2-1 to Lucan.  We will have a rematch on their ice so will get them next time!

The remainder of the week is quite for the girls as they have a couple of practices and no league games.  They will need to get prepared for next week as they will be busy with a league game on Wednesday November 18th in Strathroy and then the Stratford Aces Tournament on the weekend.  Good luck girls!
