Novice Girls off to a great start in Playoffs
Three games and three straight shutouts were recorded by netminder Grace Kipfer as the Mitchell Tru Country Novices opened their league playoffs.
Against South Huron on Feb. 13, Mitchell won 1-0 as Kara Rolph scored with 1:23 left in the third period to snap a scoreless duel.
One week later at home to Ilderton, Kipfer had the shutout but an early goal by Tegan Mace and one late by Rolph was enough for a 2-0 win.
Sunday in Belmont, Rolph again found the net for the Meteors with just over four minutes left in the game to give the visitors a 1-0 win.
Besides the shutouts by Kipfer, good defensive play was turned in by Heather Ogilvie, Jessie Horan, Peyton Vanderkuylen and Rylee Kipfer
