Tru Country & Garden Novice Girls Bring Home Silver
The Tru-County & Garden Novice Girls attended their second tournament of the season in St Thomas.

We started the tourney off with a squeaker of a win beating the London-Black Shadows 3-2. Two goals scored by Kara Rolph, and the winner by Ashley McLeod. Adding assists were Rachel Haefling and Tegan Mace. Our second game of the day was against the Flambough Falcons. Together with the girls skating hard and the defence showing off their skills by keeping the play in the opposing end, we were able to walk away with a 4-1 victory. Goals by McLeod, Rolph and two by Danielle Harmer. Assists go to Rolph, HailieghTempleman, and McLeod. Saturday the Tru-County Novice Girls really brought their game. With some awesome saves being made by Grace Kipfer and end to end rushes, the entire game was a nail biter. By far the best game the girls have played all year and were able to pull off a 3-2 victory against the Burlington Green Jackets. Goals scored by McLeod, Rolph and Harmer; adding assists Templeman,  Jade Huygen, Haefling and Mcleod. Our fourth game in the round robin was an early one Sunday morning. With still one eye closed, the girls waited until the third period to start playing hockey and eventually popped in three goals late in the third for a 3-0 win against the Burlington Blue Rebels. Kipfer notching yet another shutout in her young career and some awesome defensive plays by Heather Ogilvie, Rylee Kipfer, Jesse Horan and Peyton Vanderkuylen. Goals were scored by Huygen, McLeod and Harmer and assists by Rolph and Vanderkuylen.

With a perfect 4-0 record we are off to the Finals. Sunday afternoon.  The Tru-County Novice Girls took on the well rested London Black Shadows for all the marbles. The girls skated hard but just could not get anything going and ended up down 1-0 heading into the second and then 2-0 going into the third. At  2:04 into the third Tegan Mace, with excellent positioning, decided it was time to score her first goal of her hockey career and buried the puck in the back of their net to put the girls within two. But not being able to get any bounces, the game ended 4-1 with the girls winning the silver metal.

The Tru-County Novice Girls showed excellent character this weekend, applying everything they have learned thus far and battling hard from puck drop until the final buzzer. Well Done Girls!
