Tru Country & Garden Novice Girls end the weekend with 2 Ties
The Tru Country & Garden Novice girls played two tough fought battles this weekend ending in two ties.

The first game of the weekend was against the B.A.D. Blazers Saturday on home ice.  The Blazers would get on the board first with an unassisted goal, but Jade Huygen would score in the dying second of the period assisted by Jessie Horan to go into the second period tied at 1.  The second period was uneventful with neither team scoring to end the second still tied at 1.  Seven minutes into the third period Kara Rolph would score assisted by Ashley McLeod and Rylee Kipfer and for the first time in as many games the girls were ahead by one.  Unfortunately the blazers would notch another one on a scramble in front of the net and a bad deflection off a skate to sneak another one past net minder Grace Kipfer to tie the game.  The game would end tied 2-2 but a great effort was made by all to break the 0-4-0 record the girls had going into this weekend.

The Girls second game of the weekend was another nail biter.  After a long drive to Mooretown, the girls were pumped and ready to go.  Mitchell would get on the board first on a goal from Rolph, assisted by McLeod and that is how the first would end, Mitchell up by 1.  The second period would belong to the Lady Flags as they would score the only goal of the second.  The score was tied 1-1 after two periods of play.  The third was a back and forth affair with Mitchell getting lots of chances but the Lady Flags would score first on a breakaway.  Less than a minute later the Meteors responded with a nice chip in by McLeod assisted by Rolph.  Once again the game was tied and that is how this one would end 2-2 for the second time in two days.

It has been a tough second half of the season for the Meteors being re-seeded into the 2nd division and having to play some strong C teams but they girls have come a long way and have really improved even though their record may not reflect it.

Great job girls, looking forward to watching many more games as the season rolls on.  Merry Christmas to All!
