Meteors Battle Northstars
Submitted By Erin Klumper on Sunday, March 6, 2016
Coming off a 6-2 play-off loss on Saturday to the Bruce Peninsula Northstars on the road, the Dodge Caravan AE Novices pulled off an exciting, roof-raising, horn-blaring 4-2 win on Sunday, on home ice in Mitchell.

The Northstars opened Sunday's game with the first goal with just under 3 minutes of play completed in the first. Both teams would fight hard to keep the scoring at bay for the rest of the period.

Scoring action was in intense in the second period, as the game picked up intensity and Jacob Dietrich would put the Metoers first goal of the game up on the scoreboard, with the assist going to Braden Hogey at 3:48, to tie the game up. Ethan Jarmuth would have several breakaway shots on the Northstars net throughout the period, that had the Meteors crowd holding their breath, but would be unable to get one over the blue line. However, the Nortstars would retailiate and once again go ahead 2-1 with 54 seconds remaining, when they scored their second, and final goal, of the game.   But, Mitchell would contiune to battle hard throughout the period, and with 29 seconds remaining, the Meteors would add another goal to tie up the game for the second time from Payton Wood, assisted by Hoegy. Wade Campbell would also contribute to the Meteors points total, as he would net the go-ahead goal with under 10 seconds remaining in the period, assisted by Max Hannon.  The assurance goal came from Jacob Dietrich in the third, for his second goal of the game, and Payton Wood would get the helper, to round out the scoring for the day.

Kegan Meinin had an outstanding game in net, as he blocked several shots fired at him from the Northstars in the Meteors 4-2 win.

On the road in Wiarton, both of Saturday's goals came from Ryan Klumper, with an assist going to Ryan Glauser in the 6-2 loss for the Meteors.

Game action will again resume for the AE Novices, pending the outcome of further games played in their division.
