Nail Biting Weekend for the Novice AE's
Another exciting weekend of hockey for the Dodge Caravan AE Novices saw the  team split a pair of games with a loss to Central Perth on Saturday, and win over the Drayton Defenders Sunday afternoon.

Central Perth Nail Biter

A high intensity 3-2 thriller on Saturday (23rd) saw Central Perth adding the first two goals of the game.  However, Payton Wood would get the Meteors up on the scoreboard with their first goal of the game.   Then Ryan Klumper would fire a sniper from off the face-off at the point in their zone, and the game looked like it was going to end in a tie, until the final of 25 seconds when Central Perth netted the tie-breaking goal.   The entire AE team played exceptionally hard throughout the game, and worked hard looking for their man, and making crisp stick-to-stick passes in the loss.

Hard Earned Win Against Drayton

On Sunday afternoon, the Meteors were able to turn the tables, when the Drayton Defends rolled into town.

Action opened with fast skating from both teams, as the Meteors worked hard to keep the puck in the Defender's end, with several near goals being aimed at Drayton's net minder.  Into the second, Ryan Klumper would break the scoreless draw when he netted the first goal of the game, with the assists going to Elijah Bender and Ryan Glauser.

In the final period, both teams would lose some steam in their end to end battle to secure the win.  However, the third period would see lots of action for both goal tenders, as Klumper would again find the back of the net with his second goal, and a second helper going to Ryan Glauser.  Drayton would retaliate with two goals of their own less than 8 seconds apart at 3:43 & 3:35 to tie the game up.  Hungry for the win, Klumper would again steal the puck in the neutral zone, to notch his first hat-trick of the season, and secure the go-ahead goal for the Meteors at 3:21.  With a little more then a minute of play remaining, Payton Wood tipped in the assurance goal, with assistance from Logan Verberne and Klumper, to secure a solid 4-2 win over the Defenders in regular season play.  Keegan Meinen shone in net, as he again made several huge saves look effortless.
