Atom AE's Battling Hard in Post Season
Fresh off their ouster from the OMHA quarterfinals the Thomson Atom AE team faced a tough Kincardine team in the second game of their Neilson league playoff round robin Feb. 25.

The Meteors opened the scoring on a goal from Coulter Rolph.   That was all Mitchell would get as they  allowed five unanswered goals by Kincardine to go down, losing 5-1.  The boys next travelled to Ilderton for an exhibition game Feb. 28, and it was just what the team needed.  They pounced on the Jets early with a goal by Drew Partridge and finished up with a last minute goal in the third by Spencer Boyce to win 2-0.  The Thompson Atom AEs returned to their league round robin playoff by hosting Wingham on March 1.  Wingham took the lead with less than a minute to go in the first period.  They held that lead through the second.  The Meteors finally broke through in the third with six unanswered goals: Xavier Lorentz,  Boyce and PJ Marshall each scored two goals with assists going to Andrew Van Bakel (3), Marshall (2), Partridge (2), Lorentz, Evan O’Rourke, Jamie Feltz, Rolph and Boyce. The Thompson Atom AEs continued their hot streak with a 2-0 win over the West Grey Warriors March 4.  Partridge opened the scoring in the first minute of the second period with assists from Evan MacArthur and Boyce.  Rolph added an insurance marker early in the third period with assists from Marshall and Feltz.  The Meteors than traveled to Wingham March 7 for the fifth of the six-game round robin.  Partridge opened the scoring midway through the first period with assists from Boyce and Lorentz.  Marshall than scored the first of his three of the night for his second hat trick of the year.  Marshall was assisted by Van Bakel and Feltz. Marshall netted his second from Lorentz.  Boyce opened the third with assists from Partridge and Lorentz.  Marshall finished the scoring 7 seconds later with an unassisted goal off the centre face off.  Wingham got a late goal to make the final 5-1 Meteors.   That win set up the final round robin game with Kincardine, the winner going to the finals and the loser  out of the league playoffs.  The first period was a close affair ending 0-0.  Kincardine then jumped to a 2-0 leading two minutes into the second period.  The Meteors fought back with a goal by Partridge late in the second period.  Rolph then tied the game at the nine minute mark of the third, Jamie Feltz got the helper.  Despite a number of great scoring opportunities for both teams, the game went into overtime.  At the 8 minute mark of the overtime period the Meteors got whistled for a body contact penalty.  With a man in the box the Thompson Atom AEs went on the attack with Marshall scoring the overtime game winner at 6:44 with an assist from Boyce.  Charlie Wood in goal played excellent as he had for these last 4 games as well as the defence of Rolph, Damen Roobroeck, Evan MacArthur and Daniel Reidy allowing only four goals in a six game stretch.  The Thompson Atom AEs will now face the Hanover Falcons for both the Neilson League finals as well as the WOAA championship.
