Thompson's AE's play Back to Back Tournaments
The Thompson Atom AE's played back to back tournaments Nov 7,8,9 and Nov. 14 & 15th.

The boys had a disappointing tournament in St. Marys Nov. 7 and 8. Mitchell started the tournament against a tough St. Marys team. St. Marys got out to a 6-0 lead by the beginning of the third before Mitchell started mounting a comeback. Mitchell played well in the third period and closed the gap with goals by Drew Partridge assisted by Spencer Boyce and Xavier Lorentz, and by PJ Marshall, assisted by Coulter Rolph and Damon Roobroeck.

Later that afternoon Mitchell played a strong Ingersoll team. Ingersoll got out an early 2-0 lead and while Mitchell fought hard, they were unable to get a goal. Ingersoll scored one more to make it a 3-0 final score. Despite losing the first two games, Mitchell still had a chance to make the semis if they could beat Niagara-on-the-Lake. The boys played their opponents to a tie, thanks to goals by Partridge on a penalty shot, and Rolph who tied the game. Mitchell pulled their goalie but were unable to win and did not advance.

The AEs bounced back the following weekend by making the finals of the Bill Carnochan Atom Tournament in Seaforth Nov. 14 and 15. They opened the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Lucan. Austin Weir earned the shutout, helped by strong defensive playing by Evan Macarthur, Daniel Reidy, Rolph and Roobroeck. Goals by Marshall and Rolph cemented the victory.

Later that evening, Mitchell defeated Walkerton 3-0. The shutout was earned by Charlie Wood. Walkerton managed to keep the game close for the first two periods. Mitchell scored late in the second period on a goal by Boyce, assisted by Lorentz. Two goals by Partridge in the third put the game out of reach.

Mitchell then faced a strong Lambeth team twice on Saturday -- once to finish out the round robin and then in the finals. Despite being in penalty trouble throughout the game, Mitchell managed to keep the score close in the first game. Lambeth scored two goals late in the third to earn the victory.

The finals, an hour after their last game, was a tight back-and-forth affair for the first two periods. Mitchell started to run out of gas at the end of the second and Lambeth was able to get on the board with two goals late in the second. Despite pressing, Mitchell wasn't able to get a goal and Lambeth scored three more goals to put victory out of reach for Mitchell.
