Novice AE's Defeat Arthur in First Round
The Dodge Caravan Kids Novice AE's beat the Arthur Vipers 4-1 Sunday afternoon in Monkton to win their opening six point series 6-0. The Meteors saved their best game of the series for the clincher as they played well in all aspects of the game on Sunday against a tough team from Arthur.
The home side would take a 1-0 first period lead on a goal mouth scramble goal by Brayden Glauser assisted by Jaxen Hartwig and Charlie Geiger. Arthur would then bounce back to tie the game only 20 seconds into the second period as they slipped one by Mitchell goalie Jack Bree. Jordan Visneskie on a pass from Jack Miller would answer back a minute later on a breakaway goal to put the locals up 2-1 after the second period.
Jaxen Hartwig opened up the third period quickly with a goal to put the Meteors up 3-1. Visneskie would put the game away late in the third period with his second of the game. Third period assists went to Geiger and Jack Small.
The Novice AE's will now advance to a semi-final round robin series.
