McArthur works Magic!
The Novice girls hockey team travelled to North Middlesex this past Sunday to battle the Parkhill Junior Stars.
With Shawni as goalie confident in the net, the team felt and played strong. The team work continued with great passes by forwards Claire, Cydney, Ellie, Brett, Alyssa , Lauren, Nicole and Charlee. All the forwards are holding their positions and reading the play, anticipating and reacting together to control the puck.

The scoring opened in the first with an unassisted goal by Sadie, her first of four goals for the game. Proving her star quality and always finding her way to the net with great control of the puck and speed. Attempts to score by Claire, Cydney and Charlee were held off by the North Middlesex goalie. North Middlesex retaliated with a goal of their own. Sadie found her away by the defense to score her second unassisted goal of the game near the end of the first period.
Heading into the second period with a two goal lead, Mitchell continued to dominate and played strong. New comer and asset to the team Lauren found the back of the net at the start of the second period, also unassisted. Our defensive team of Sadie M, Jaelyn, Dayna and Ally held their own, protecting our end of the ice and carrying the puck out of the danger zone. Somehow North Middlesex suck a few by us and scored three goals in the second period.
Sadie continued her streak with her third unassisted goal of the game in the third period. Her persistence in shooting the puck and reading the goalie has paid off as she tried again and got her fourth and final goal of the game, assisted by Jordyn. North Middlesex, not to be out-beaten got one past Shawni, which tied the game at the end of the third.
The game ended with continued struggle over the puck and a tie, but we will take that.
