U-18 Girls Begin Playoff Round Robin
The GC Financial U-18 C girls split a pair of games on the weekend as they began their WOGHL Division II playoffs.

On Friday night the team made the long trip to Mooretown to visit the Lady Flags B team in what turned out to be a close match.  Kora Smith opened the scoring at 3:05 of the first period with an assist going to Maddy Bernard.  Mooretown replied with 2 goals to take the lead before Brooklyn Boville tied it up with 5 minutes left in the 2nd while Margaret McCarthy drew the assist.  Andrea Kelly gave Mitchell the lead to begin the 3rd but the home team kept pressing.  Goaltender Shawni DeJong made some huge saves but the Meteors were not able to hold of the Mooretown team as they responded with 2 goals to take a 4-3 win.

On Sunday the girls travelled to Wellesley to take on the Twin Centre Hericanes B team and came out with a very hard fought 5-2 victory.  Solid goaltending from Kora Smith and Shawni DeJong and well as a solid defensive effort and total team play all contributed to the win.  Jordyn Crawford scored the first 2 goals of the game followed by single by Claire McCorkindale and Abby Gemmell.  The Hericanes responded with 2 of their own before Andrea Kelly capped it off with an empty net goal.  Assists went to Jade Huygen (2) and Brooklyn Boville.
