U-18 Girls reach WOGHL Tier 2 Finals
The GC Finacial U-18 C girls won a thrilling semifinal match, 2-1 against the Lambeth Lancers B team to advance to the "Day of Champions" for a one game final on March 6.

On Sunday March 24 the Meteors travelled to Lambeth to take on the Lancers in a one game semifinal.  The game proved to be a thriller which came right down to the final seconds to secure the win.
Kora Smith began the game in goal and made some huge saves including 2 breakaways as she closed the door for the first 2 periods.  Both teams went scoreless until 13:07 of the third period when Jordyn Crawford converted a nice cross crease pass from Brooklyn Boville to take the lead 1-0.  Jade Huygen had the second assist on the goal.
Lambeth pressed hard and was able to score on a point shot that was deflected in front to tie the game with 2:44 left in the third.  The Meteors did not take long to respond as Andrea Kelly pounded on a loose puck in the offensive zone and went 5 hole to once again give Mitchell the lead.  Lambeth pulled their goalie and threw everything they had at us but it was goaltender Shawni DeJong's turn to stand tall as she stopped multiple close range shots to preserve the 2-1 victory.
This victory showed the all around effort from the entire team.  Defense was stingy and the forwards pressed all night not allowing the opponents much room.
Congratulations to the girls on making it to the finals.

The final game for the Meteors will be on March 6 at 7:30 pm in Zurich against either South Huron or Mooretown for the WOGHL Tier 2 Final.
Come out and cheer on the team in their last game before Provincials.
