U-18 Girls Take Over 1st Place
After suffering their first defeat in regular season play this year, the GC Financial U-18 C girls win three in a row to take over 1st place in their WOGHL North division.

After a hard fought 1-0 loss to the Wilmot Wolverines on the road, the Meteors faced the first place Tillsonburg Lightning and skated to a convincing 6-2 win.  Mitchell led 5-0 on goals by Andrea Kelly(2),  Brooklynn French, Haileigh Templeman and Jade Huygen before the Lightning countered with 2 goals in a bid for a comeback but then Brooklyn Boville iced it with an empty net goal to finish off the scoring. Assists went to Josie Walker(2), Jordyn Crawford,  Huygen, Alexis Gettler, Maddy Bernard, Ally DeJong and Boville.

On Friday the girls travelled to Lucan to take on the Irish.  The goaltending duo of Kora Smith and Shawni DeJong shut the door to share in the shutout and the defense controlled our end while consistently breaking out of our zone for attacking rushes the other way.  Jordyn Crawford, Andrea Kelly, Ally DeJong and Brooklynn French with 2 had the goals for Mitchell while Josie Walker, Maggie McCarthy and Andrea Kelly drew assists.

Sunday night was a rematch in Tillsonburg against the Lighting and the girls seemed driven to make the drive worthwhile.  After going down 1-0 early, Andrea Kelly scored off of an offensive zone faceoff to tie the game.
Casey Bernard then crashed the net and buried a rebound which turned out to be the game winner from a Kelly shot to go up 2-1.  Josie Walker,  Kelly and Jordyn Crawford rounded out the scoring for a 5-1 Mitchell win.  Assists went to Crawford, French, McCarthy, Huygen, Walker and Vanderkuylen.
