U-18 girls off to great start
The  GC Financial U-18 girls have started the 2023/2024 season 5-0 in defense of their provincial championship win last season.

The Meteors have won 5 straight in convincing fashion to start the campaign with contributions from everyone on the team.  The goaltending duo of Shawni DeJong and Kora Smith have been outstanding allowing only 2 goals over the 5 games including 3 shutouts.  Along with the great goaltending, stingy defense and a tenacious forecheck have been key for the Meteors.
Most recently on Nov 1 the girls skated to a 8-1 victory over the visiting South Huron Sabres.  Andrea Kelly and Brooklyn Boville each had a pair of goals  while singles going to Brooklynn French, Jade Huygen, Josie Walker and Jordyn Crawford.  Assists went to Boville (2), French, Claire McCorkindale,  Ally DeJong, Maggie McCarthy,  Haileigh Templeman,  Shawni DeJong and Huygen.

On Nov 5, Mitchell hosted the Lucan Irish and once again used a balanced attack to shutout the visitors 6-0.
Huygen opened the scoring in the first from Kaylyn Klumper and the team never looked back.  Kelly followed with a goal from Boville and Casey Bernard before the first period ended.  Walker with 2,  French and Boville with singles rounded out the scoring.  Assists went to Ally DeJong,  McCarthy and Huygen.
Next up for the girls are 2 league games at home Nov 13 and Nov 15,  followed by playing in the Statford Aces Tournament on Nov 17-19.
