Between
the snowstorm and the holidays, the boys would meet up in the new year against
Brussels Blyth on Friday January 6, 2023.
Another home game, but not the outcome we were looking for.
The Crusaders
maximized their plays in the first period, with three goals. Mitchell’s defensive played strong during the
second period, with Aiden stopping shots left and right. A rush up the ice with
Grady Smith and Austin Judge passing over to Hudson Porter to shoot on net and
score. Back and forth play in the third but
the boys could not get another goal. Final score 4 – 1 for Blyth-Brussels.
Friday
January 13, 2023 the Meteor’s played against AEMHA Ice Dogs at home. The fans filled the stands from both
centers. The Meteor’s had their full
team back and lines were matched. Unfortunately,
the IceDogs scored on a power play goal at the beginning of the first period
and then again at the end, leaving the score 2 to 0 for the Ice Dogs. The Meteors played short
handed for most of the second period, allowing the Ice Dogs to capitalize and score
four more goals. The intermission flood was welcomed to give our boys a pep
talk, and once again the boys rallied to start the third period with a goal by
Grady Smith assisted by Nate Uniac. The rest
of the period was back and forth with effort on both passes and battles for the
puck in the corners by, our forwards, Luca, Adam, Jack and Owen. The defense,
Colby, Issak and Joel, were solid on the blue line. Unfortunately, the boys would
lose this game 6 to 1.
