The
Scotiabank U15 Mitchell Meteors ended 2022 on a very high note after the battle
against Listowel Cyclones on December 16th.
The boys had home ice advantage and the stands were full for this Friday
night game
The team
was back together and the boys came out flying, but were unable to capitalize
on the first two periods. At the end of the second the boys trailing the Cyclones 3 to 0.
During the flood, head coach Fausty sparked
some fire in their bellies and the boys came out strong. Rogan Catalan was able to get one passed the
goalie and get the boys on the scoreboard, assisted by Hudson Porter. The game
was hard fought, and the team’s perseverance paid off. The Mitchell Meteors showed great heart, working
as a team they overcame a 3 to 1 deficit, with Grady Smith scoring three goals,
two shorthanded and the game winning goal assisted by Max Hannon.
The penalty box was never empty during this
period. The game was sealed when Nate
Uniac scored in the last minute of the game. The excitement on the ice and in the stands
was overwhelming. The final score was 5
to 3.
