The
Mitchell Scotiabank U15 team played their last three regular season games at
home. Mount Forest Rams made the trip to
Mitchell on January 19th, 2023. The Rams came out strong and played to their
advantage in the first period, scoring three goals while we played shorthanded. The second period Mitchell played defense
and battled the puck in the corners with full lines for both teams. Hudson Porter would get us on the score board
with an assist from Nate Uniac in the middle of the third. The boys tried to rally but there was not
enough time left and both teams filled up the penalty box. Tough loss Mitchell 4-1.
Thursday January
24th, the Mid-Huron Huskies traveled down highway 8 for a 7:30pm
game. The first period was exciting, Max
Hannon rifled one past their goalie, assisted by Rogan Catalan. It wasn’t long after that you could see the
boys stepping up their game and winning the challenges against the
Huskies. Hudson Porter and Caden Diehl also
scored in the first, giving the boys an advantage going into the second period.
During the second period, the boys made some great passes and plays to add
three more goals to the board. Goals
scored by Hannon, and two more by Caden Diehl, Rogan Catalan and Isaak Smith with
the assists. The penalty box was busy with visitors for most of the third
period. Although Mitchell played short
handed most of the period, Aiden McCann, and the defense did not let the
Huskies take the advantage. The boys won
6-2.
The Goderich
Sailors came to Mitchell on Friday January 27, 2023. The Sailors are a small but mighty team. The first period set the tone for the game,
with three goals scored by the Sailors. Although we had plenty of rushes up the
ice the only goal scored for Mitchell was in the third period by Hannon, unassisted. A loss, 4-1 for our boys to end the regular
season. Playoffs begin Sunday February
5, 2023, against Minto Mad Dogs, at 7:40 pm, at the Mitchell arena.
