U18 Girls, Girls Hockey, 2022-2023 (Mitchell Minor Hockey)

The Paul Van Gerwen U-18 Girls hockey team won gold at the OWHA finals this weekend!

The streaking Mitchell Van Gerwen/Sunlife U18 girls hockey team – a squad with only one third-year player – captured the Western Ontario Girls Hockey League (WOGHL) championship with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory over Tillsonburg in Komoka on April 1st. U18 Meteors take aim at OWHA title after winning league crown in overtime.

A team above all. Above all a Team! The U-18 Paul Van Gerwen Girls hockey team has certainly proved that in the 2022-2023 season.  The U-18's won the WOGHL semi-finals Friday evening beating out the Ilderton Jets on home ice with a shut out for Shawni, final score 3-0. The meteors dominated the play most of the game with offensive pressure by all three lines. The coaching staff of Jordyn, Sam, Pam and Getty made sure the players knew where they were going as they lined up the plays and faceoffs to our advantage. The Sunlife - Paul VanGerwen U18 Girls hockey team has had an outstanding winning 2022/2023 season! Capturing first place in league playoffs the U 18's won 7 games, tied one with no losses on their record. In round robin play they outscored their opponents 26 to 9. Dominating league playoffs defeating Tillsonburg Lightning, Chatham Kent Crush, Ilderton Jets and West Oxford Infernos along the way to capture first place! U-18's are now moving on to the championship round of league playoffs. 

The Paul Van Gerwen U18 Girls team prevailed over the Ilderton Jets at the London Devilettes 32'nd Girls Hockey Tournament in the finals, with a winning score of 6-1.
