U13 LL Meteors Hoping for Big Win at Home
The Mark Bannon Backhoe Mitchell Meteors U13 LL team opened up a 3 game series against the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs last week in Paisley. This series is to determine the winner of the WOAA U13 LL Maroon Championship.
The AEMHA Ice Dogs opened up the scoring, but the Mark Bannon Mitchell Meteors U13 LL team quickly tied it up when Dylan Dietrich went in alone on the goalie and put one past him. The Ice Dogs took the lead again, but Dietrich was quick to get another unassisted goal making it a 2-2 game going into the second period. The Meteors dominated the second period with unassisted goals from Simon Jenson and Reegan Vessie and took a 4-2 lead. Early in the third period, Liam Baker, with a nice pass from Hayden DeJong, put another goal on the scoreboard. The Ice Dogs narrowed the Meteors lead, but Henry Schoonderwoerd and Grey McKay cemented the team's win with another goal making it a 6-3 game. In the final minutes of play, Arran-Elderslie got 2 quick goals, but it wasn't enough as the Mark Bannon Backhoe Mitchell Meteors U13 LL squad remained on top with a 6-5 win.
They will play game #2 in Mitchell tomorrow night - Wednesday, March 29th at 7:30pm.
