The U13 girls played 3 games in the last week, two of which
were playoff games against Woodstock and Kitchener and one being a Provincial
Qualifier against South Huron.
Against Woodstock, the girls found themselves down by two by
the end of the first period. Things looked promising after a goal by Danica
Voros, from Martyna Hartwig and Phoebe Wood. Woodstock responded with another
and ended the game 3-1
The qualifier vs South Huron was a tough match. South Huron
came out of the gate strong and didn’t let up until the final buzzer. The
Meteors had some good chances, but couldn’t capitalize, ending the game in a
5-0 loss.
The Game in Kitchener was a very close matchup, and by the
start of the third period, it was clear that it was likely to be a one goal
game. Lots of good chances and great goaltending at both ends made it a great
game to watch. Defensive squad of Kinslee Horan, Ella Sills, Charlee Weesjes,
Casey Crowley did a great job keeping
the Rangers at bay, but the Rangers were first to get on the board. As the
minutes dwindled, the Rangers took a penalty with just shy of two minutes
remaining. With a timeout called and Ally
Vanbakel pulled. An extra attacker hit the ice for a 6 on 4. With the
pressure cranked up, the play mostly took part in the Rangers end. Many great
chances took place for the Meteors, but couldn’t beat the Rangers goalie to end
the game in a 1-0 loss. Great overall effort with many more games left on the
schedule.
