U13 Ace Garden centre girls make it to Semi Finals in Pink on the Rink Tournament
The First game against South Huron was a hard fought battle.

Only one goal scored by the Sabres until the closing minutes of the game with Ally VanBakel on the bench and the extra attacker, the Meteors came up short and the Sabres potted an empty-netter to seal the 2-0 loss for the Meteors.

The Girls continued their hard work to game two vs Ilderton Jets. They were rewarded with a 4-0 victory. Two goals scored in the first period. One a piece from Lucy Mahon, and Danica Voros. Elena Hoeggar marked the assist on the Voros goal.  One goal in each of the remaining periods by Kinslee Horan (Voros assist), and one from Leah Sills.

Game three Vs. Wingham was another morning battle. Ella Sills was awarded the “skateguard award” as the girls hit the ice for warmups. Wingham got on the board first in the first period, but into the second period Mahon got the Meteors tied up on a back-and forth exchange with Martyna Hartwig. Wingham replied quickly after to get the eventual 2-1 game winner over the Meteors. Holding the strong Wingham team to only two goals, was a collaborative effort from the stellar defense of Horan, Hoeggar, Charlee Weesjes, Ella Sills and Casey Crowley. Ally VanBakel played fantastic in net, stopping many difficult shots.

The quarter-final game vs. Upper Maitland Mustangs was another well matched battle. As the minutes ticked on, it appeared that the first team to score was likely going to be the winner. The puck found its way back to Horan who rifled her signature wrist shot from the point and it found its way past a well screened Mustangs goalie. The Meteor fans, players and coaches erupted and filled the arena with cheer, as that goal proved to be the lone goal of the game sending the Meteor girls into the semi-finals the next morning

The Semifinal match proved to be difficult. The Meteors held Wingham 86ers as long as possible. Allowing only two goals in the first two periods, keeping their hopes of advancing alive. Wingham kicked it into high gear in the third period, quickly ending the Meteors’ hopes of making the finals. The girls played very well, but just couldn’t get on the board against the eventual tournament winners.
