U15 Girls Hang On To Edge South Huron
The Mitchell Lockhart Funeral Home U15 Meteor Girls hosted South Huron in an exhibition game on October 20th, notching a 5-4 win despite yet again a depleted bench due to injuries and absentees.
Knotted 1-1 after one period of play, the Meteors stormed out hot in the second with four more goals, including back-to-back scores by Haileigh Templeman in less than a minute. Defensemen Grace Laverty and Alexis Gettler also scored on shots from the point.
South Huron pushed hard in the third, scoring two goals to cut the Mitchell lead to one. But goaltender Kora Smith and a tired Meteor defense stood tall to preserve the 5-4 win.
Brooklyn French had the opening marker for Mitchell along with two assists, and additional helpers were recorded by Templeman, Addy Wolfe, Rachel Haefling, Brooklyn Boville, and Josie Walker with a pair.
The locals head on the road tonight for 6:30pm puck drop in Blyth vs Huron Heat, the last scheduled exhibition game. Regular season play begins October 27th, hosting West Oxford at 7pm.
