U15 Girls Win-Tie To Set Up Game 3 Final For WOGHL Championship
The Lockhart Funeral Home U15 'C' Meteor Girls completed a home-and-home with the Stratford Aces on the weekend, opening with a 3-1 road win on March 26th followed by skating to a 2-2 tie back at home on March 27th.
In Stratford on Saturday, Macie Russwurm's point shot from Ainsley Berendsen midway through the second period would tie the game 1-1 after Stratford opened the scoring. Jade Huygen scored the game-winning goal late in the final period, assisted by Grace Laverty. Berendsen would add the unassisted insurance empty-netter in the final minute of play.
Back at home the following day, Mitchell carried a 2-1 lead late into the third period on goals by Brooklyn Boville from Teagan Hickling and Berendsen. Stratford would score late and the teams hung on for the 2-2 tie.
Game #3 is back in Stratford on Saturday April 2nd at Dufferin Arena with 3:30pm puck drop.
