U11 Ace Country Garden Meteor Girls win Pink on the Rink Tournament
After winning all four round robin games in the Tournament, the Ace Country Garden U11 girls looked to maintain their winning streak as they moved on to play South Huron in the semi final game.

Danica Voros got the girls on the board early in the first. There were lots more chances, but the second goal wouldn't come until the final seconds as Emma Upshall popped one in from Charlee Weesjes.
Voros opened the second period as well with Upshall assisting. Caley Michels positioned perfectly in front of the Sabres net was able to pop in a beauty backhander from Martyna Hartwig rebound.
On to the third period, Kinslee Horan put on another spectacular end to end rush, weaving through almost every player to get the goal. Sophia VanNes, and Leah Sills recorded the assists. The Sabres would persist and were able to finally get one past Ally Vanbakel. As the game died down, the girls kept pressing and were able to score 2 more goals to finish off the game. One more from Michels assisted by Hartwig and Callie VanLoon and the other by Upshall from Horan to end the game 7-1. Voros was named player of the game. The girls headed back to rest for the tournament final later that afternoon.
Excitement filled Stephen Township arena as the girls lined up to take the ice for the Pink on the Rink Final. Their usual pre-game boisterous chanting escalated as to "out shout" their Upper Maitland Mustang opponents.
The Mustangs were out to make up for the loss they suffered to the Meteors in the tournament opener, just days earlier. The teams came out strong and things looked promising off the start as the Meteors got a very early power play gift, but were unable to capitalize. It wasn't until the final few minutes of the first that Voros would break the tension and net the go ahead goal. Both teams pressed hard throughout the second period, but no goals were recorded.
A few minutes into the third period, Horan fired up the jets and sniped a shot to the back of the net to buy some insurance for the rest of the game. The minutes died down and it became more evident that the Meteors were on their way to victory. The buzzer sounded with a 2-0 score to capture the championship game. Charlee Weesjes was awarded Player of the game. The U11 Ace Country Garden Meteor girls represented their hometown well and recorded an astounding 27 goals for and only 1 goal against, across 6 undefeated games. Thanks to the coaches for an exciting weekend of Hockey.
