Game Five Series Clincher
The New Orleans Pizza, Peewee AE's, once again filled the bus to head back up to Collingwood for what they hoped to the series clincher on February 22nd.

Mitchell started off the scoring with a scramble in front of the net and Ryan Klumper punching it home making it 1-0. Two min later Collingwood would fire back with one. Collingwood took the lead scoring another late in the first making it 2-1.

The boys didn't let the Collingwood lead bother them as they took charge from the face off making it a back and forth game. Half way through the 2nd Mitchell answered back with getting a goal by a wrist shot from Ryan Klumper making is 2-2.

With no flooding between periods the boys carried there never give up attitude into third period creating a lot of back and forth edge of your seat plays. Mitchell’s defense by Cohen Ahrens, Eli Bender, Payton Wood and Jonah Gibbings was solid throughout the entire series, keeping the forward lines moving the puck around and Collingwood on the move to keep up. Ryan Hubbard picked up the puck behind the net and going for the wrap around and put the puck out front the Max Hannon who the made the shot but stopped by the goalies skate. These kinds of plays were seen all through the third. Mitchell’s defense stood strong as they were able to keep the puck deep in Collingwood’s zone.

With just 1.21 left in the third period Collingwood scored, making it 3-2. Mitchell wasted no time from the face off and put in there zone as the Mitchell scored 10 seconds later with quick pass from Charlie Wolfe to Ryan Klumper to put it home making it 3-3 tie with just over a minute left to play. With .16 left in the third, Mitchell took the much needed time out to give them a little rest and create a game plan for the remaining regulation time.  The Meteors won the face off and put all the pressure they could on net to get one in the back of the net but came short.

The series went into yet overtime for the second straight game. Mitchell who was getting tired from the fast paced game pushed even harder in the overtime, as both there were several back-and-forth plays being made by both teams. Unfortunately Collingwood was able to sneak one in securing the win, in a hard battled, nail-biting, intense 4-3 thriller that made up the final game.

Everyone would like to thank Collingwood for their hard-work and great sportsmanship over the course of these five games, and for providing an excellent series!  All the best to your team in the semi's!

The coaching staff would like to thank all of the Mitchell Meteors who played their hearts out in every single minute of every game, and never gave up once.  Honourable mention goes to injured player Colby Ryan, who supported his teammates throughout the series and was proudly cheering them on in the stands for every game!

The team would like to thank their parents for covering the many kilometers on the road with them, and to all of their fans; parents, siblings, grand-parents, fellow Meteors, classmates and members of the community who all came out to support them throughout the series.

And what a series it was.  Hockey doesn't get any better than this! Congratulations to you all.

Over the course of 10 days, the Mitchell Peewee AE’s played 7 games between OMHA and WOAA action. The Peewee AE's have more than earned a well-deserved 5 days of rest.  WOAA action resumes for the team when they make yet another road trip to face off against the Saugeen Storm on February 29th.
