AE's Take Two
Nearing the end of regular season action, the New Orleans Pizza Peewee AE’s earned a pair of hard battled W’s, as they took two from the Listowel Cyclones over the holidays.

December 21st the team visited the Steven Kerr Arena, where Mitchell was quick on the board with an unassisted beauty from Ryan Hubbard.  Excellent passing and teamwork between line mates, saw Max Hannon following suit assisted by Wade Campbell, while Logan Verberne added a wraparound goal from a set-up by Charlie Wolfe before the first period was over.  In the second, Wolfe grabbed the puck at the blue line and drove in the fourth goal for the Meteors, before Listowel could net on of their own a minute later.  Hannon picked up his second goal of the game, again assisted by Wolfe and Campbell, while between the pipes, Keagan Meinen stood strong as Listowel tried to capitalize on power plays late in the second period.   The third period got off to a slow start, and with the Meteors a man short; Listowel netted their second goal of the game.  It wasn’t until mid-way through the third that the Meteors regained their strength, as Ryan Klumper broke out of the zone and with a pass over to Wolfe and dumped in by Klumper from the corner, that earned the Meteors the win with a healthy score of 6-2.

December 28th, the visiting Cyclones started the game strong in Monkton as they were up on the board early in the first.  Penalties for the home team had Mitchell trailing well into the second, before Jonah Gibbings was waiting out front to dump one in, on a well set-up pass from Hannon and Hubbard to tie the game up.  Klumper added the go-ahead goal, assisted by line-mates Campbell and Wolfe.  Quick back checking and consistency on the blue line from Payton Wood and Elijah Bender prevented Listowel from capitalizing on their power play advantages in the third, as Cohen Ahrens and Jonah Gibbings were setting up beautiful tape-to-tape passes to their team mates. Keagen showcased his goaltending skills in with an impressive diving cross-crease-stick-save late in the third, while Hubbard assisted by Verberne, notched the final goal with just 53 seconds remaining in the game, to secure a 3-1 win over the Cyclones.

The Peewee AE’s are looking to carry their momentum forward, as they wrap up their regular season and head into a challenging weekend with a pair of back to back games against season rival BCH.
