Peewee Reps Fall Short in Silver Stick Regional
The Hoegy's Farm Supply Peewee Meteor Reps competed in the Silver Stick Peewee 'B' Regional tournament in Kincardine on Dec 27-28th, finishing with a 1-1-1 record in pool play and failing to advance to the playoff round.

The Meteors opened tournament play on Friday afternoon against the Twin Centres Stars, an opponent they had not yet seen this year.  With his stick still sizzling, Ethan Jarmuth opened the scoring late in the first, jamming in a loose puck in the crease assisted by Jacob Dietrich and Bryce Dixon.  In the dying seconds of the middle period, Kellen Russwurm scored on a backhander from Bryce Otten to take a 2-0 lead into the third.  The Meteors would add two more unanswered goals from Braden Hoegy and Dietrich, both unassisted breakaways.  Twin Centres would add two power play goals late in the third, and Jarmuth would score unassisted to round out the scoring for a 5-2 opening win.  Hayden Nicholson was awarded player of the game.
Saturday morning brought the host Kincardine Kinucks team, and Russwurm would open the scoring in the first minute with a shot from the point into the top corner, assisted by Dixon.  The teams battled hard scoreless for the remainder of the game until Kincardine would pull the goalie for the extra attacker with a minute to go, scoring with 21.5 seconds left to end in a 1-1 tie.  Russwurm would earn player of the game for the Meteors.
In their second game of the day on Saturday, the Meteors would face familiar league rival BCH Ice Dogs, a foe that has been challenging to beat all year.  The Ice Dogs led 2-1 after one period of play, with the lone Mitchell goal coming off the stick of Dixon on a deflection of a Jack Van Loon shot.  BCH then opened up the floodgates scoring four unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead.  Nick Wagner would add one back for Mitchell late in the third from Carter O'Brien and Otten, and BCH would add one more to finish up with a 7-2 win over the Meteors, eliminating them from the tournament.  Mitchell player of the game was Dixon.
