Peewee Reps Tie, Lose in League Action
The Hoegy's Farm Supply Meteor Peewee Reps recorded a tie and a loss in recent WOAA action, skating to a 2-2 draw with the Walkerton Capitals on Nov 23rd and dropping a 3-1 decision to the BCH Ice Dogs in Monkton on Nov 26th.
In Walkerton, the locals built a 2-0 lead after one on a shorthanded goal by Nick Wagner from Charlie Geiger, followed by Kellen Russwurm from Jack Miller off the draw with 0.2 seconds left on the clock. The Capitals would claw back to tie the game, and pressed hard for the win in the final period. The Meteor penalty kill stood strong, killing off a full two minute 5-on-3 disadvantage to preserve the tie.
At home in Monkton vs BCH, the teams skated to a scoreless opening period before the visitors struck first early in the second. Mitchell would tie it up late in the period on a nifty backhander from Miller cutting across the slot, with assists awarded to Hayden Nicholson and Lucas Mahon. The Meteors appeared to take the lead early in the third as Russwurm ripped one in from the blueline off the goalie's glove, but it was waved off as offside. BCH would score the winning goal late in the third, adding an empty netter at the end to secure the win.
