Peewee Reps Fail To Advance To Sunday In Twin Centres Tournament
The Hoegy's Farm Supply Meteor Peewee Reps competed in the Twin Centres Tournament in St. Clements this past weekend, finishing with a record of 2-2 and failing to advance to Sunday.

The Meteors opened tournament play on Friday at 5pm vs Tavistock, an opponent they knew well from an earlier matchup this season.  Tavistock struck first midway through the opening period, but Mitchell would tie it up moments later as Kellen Russwurm moved in from the blueline and blasted one over the goalie's shoulder, assisted by Ethan Jarmuth and Bryce Dixon.  Mitchell then took the lead early in the second period on a goal by Jack Miller, assisted by Nick Wagner and Charlie Geiger, and never looked back on route to a 4-2 win.  Jacob Dietrich and Wagner each scored in the final frame, with assists awarded to Jarmuth with another pair, and Russwurm.  Dietrich was selected Mitchell Game MVP by the opposing team.
With an odd number of 7 teams in the Rep division, Mitchell drew a second game on Friday evening at 8pm vs a fresh Elmvale team.  A tired Meteors squad played from behind all game, falling to a 3-0 deficit by early in the third period before Bryce Otten would find the back of the net from Carter O'Brien to ruin the shutout bid.  Charlie Geiger would be named team MVP for the game.
Saturday morning brought the Ayr Flames at 10am, and both rested teams battled to a 2-2 tie after regulation, with both Mitchell goals coming from Wagner unassisted.  Two minutes into the overtime period, the Meteors were assessed a body contact penalty, and Ayr would score on the ensuing powerplay 20 seconds later for the win.  Wagner was chosen game MVP for the Meteors.
Game 4 on Saturday afternoon brought about a rematch with the Tavistock Titans, who undoubtedly were looking for revenge from their earlier loss.  Jarmuth had three points (2G 1A) and was named game MVP as the Meteors played a solid two-way game all around for a 4-0 shutout win.  Additional goals were scored by Hayden Nicholson on a blast from the point and Dietrich on a wraparound.  Assists were recorded by Wagner, O'Brien, Otten, and Lucas Mahon.
Now facing elimination after two losses, the locals were down to their last life on Saturday evening with a rematch with Ayr.  Looking for revenge, the Meteors battled the Flames hard all game leading to a scoreless first period.  Ayr then struck first with a powerplay goal midway through the second period, but Mitchell would tie it up moments later as Geiger would score from Wagner.  Miller added a goal from Jarmuth to take a brief lead but Ayr would would even things up again moments later.  The teams battled hard for the next ten minutes trading scoring changes and strong goaltending performances.  With Mitchell shorthanded and less than a minute to go, a questionable body contact penalty was called, putting the Meteors at an extreme disadvantage of a 5-on-3 late in the game.  Ayr would score with 28 seconds remaining to eliminate the Meteors and move on to Sunday at 1pm to face the Elmvale Cougars, with the winner meeting Wasaga Beach in the final.  Goaltender Joel Meinen was deservedly named game MVP, making several spectacular saves all game to keep the score close.
