Aylmer AE Tournament
The Thompsons Ltd. Mitchell Atom AE team took part in the Aylmer AE Tournament this weekend. Although they were not successful in moving onto Sundays action, the small group played well coming away with two close losses and a tie.

Game one was played on Friday afternoon against the Ayr Flames, who had a much larger bench than our 10 skaters. The team played hard and the game was much closer than the 4-1 final. Player of the Game went to Mitchells AP Abigayle VanBakel for her efforts.
Game two on Saturday morning would be against the Lambeth Lancers. Mitchell started the game with only 8 skaters, but played very hard keeping a lot of pressure on Lambeth throughout the entire game. The boys were right in it and kept the game tied at 1-1 going late into the 3rd period. However, late in the 3rd period, Lambeth was able to bang in a loose puck and took the 2-1 victory. Player of the Game went to Mitchells goalie Sebastian Voros.
Game three would be against the very familiar Kincardine Kinucks on Saturday afternoon. The boys again played hard and put a lot of pressure on Kincardine. The game was back and forth as both teams traded goals throughout the match. When the final buzzer sounded it would be a 5-5 tie. Special mention goes to Sebastian Voros for some key saves to keep Mitchell in the game. This time the Player of the Game award went to Landon VanBakel for his 4 goal effort! Bakes credits the new yellow "sticky grip" tape he applied to his stick just before the game.

Mitchell still has some WOAA action coming up against Wingham to finish off the season.
