Strong Team Effort From Atom AE Team
The Thompsons Ltd. Mitchell Meteors Atom AE boys hockey team continued WOAA playoff action in Mitchell on Saturday February 16th, hosting the Listowel Cyclones. The team was still sour about coming home from Listowel a week ago with a 1-1 tie! The boys seemed confident and were out to get a much needed win in round robin play. Throughout the game, Mitchell seemed to control play with the majority of the action being in Listowels end.

When playing against Listowel it is always thought to be anyones game, as the teams have been evenly matched throughout the year. Today, the Mitchell squad took matters in to their own hands, displaying many of the skills and plays that they have practiced so many times this year. The Mitchell boys would be rewarded for their efforts with an 8-1 victory.

The entire game was dominated by Mitchell with special mention going to two of its players, who each had 6 point efforts! Landon Van Bakel came away with the hat trick plus 3 assists, while Owen Beuermann had 2 goals and 4 helpers of his own. Also making the goal column were Hudson Porter with 2 nice goals, as well as Carson Brown with a beauty wrap around play, plus he also recorded 2 assists of his own. Other assists for the game went to Jake Richardson, Griffin Bree, Nate Uniac and Zack Siemon-Hergott.

The defensive play of Isaac Smith, Ben Kelly, Siemon-Hergott and Uniac continued all game long, which only allowed Listowel a handful of shots on Voros, who turned all but one aside. The great passing and heads up play of the entire team was complimented by the coaching staff after the game.

WOAA action will continue, with further games against Wingham AE still to be scheduled.
