OMHA Playoffs
The Thompsons LTD Mitchell Meteor Atom AE team started into their OMHA series against the Kincardine Kinucks this weekend. The local boys have played great for both games, however were denied a win both days.

Game one took place at the Davidson Center in Kincardine on Saturday afternoon. Right off the start, it was easy to see that Mitchell came ready to play as they were putting plenty of pressure on the Kinucks. They had two on the puck in both ends of the ice and were not letting Kincardine get many shots away. In the first period Mitchell would get on the board first with Isaak Smith putting it in deep behind the net, Jake Richardson got a hold of it and passed it out front to Hudson Porter who blasted it past the Kincardine goalie. Early in the second period Kincardine would tie it up. The teams would trade one more goal each before the end of the second period with Owen Beuermann putting it in for the Meteors, assisted by Nate Uniac. The boys kept the pressure on and continued to out shoot Kincardine for the entire game. Sebastian Voros stood tall many times making some great saves, however Kincardine was able to break in and put one more in Mitchells net in the third period. Although Mitchell played a great game, they would come away with a 3-2 loss.

Game two was back in Mitchell the next night. Mitchell again would get on the board first with Carson Browns hard work paying off. He was able to take a pass from Beuermann and put a great shot in top corner of Kincardines net. The second period saw a lot of end to end action, with no scoring for either team. Voros again made many great saves to keep his team ahead. Early in the third period , Kincardine would put in two goals of their own to tie the game up. There were chances at both ends of the ice to break the tie, however the game would eventually have to go to a 10 minute overtime to be decided. Both teams played hard, but with less than 2 minutes left in the OT frame, Kincardine sealed the 3-2 win, putting them up 4-0 in the 6 point series.

Game three will be next Saturday January 19th in Tiverton at 1:00 pm.
