Best Game of The Season !
The Thompsons Ltd. Mitchell Meteors Atom AE team traveled to Listowel on Tuesday November 20th for another game against the always feisty Cyclones. A week earlier, Listowel had handed the local team a 4-2 loss, which was not sitting well with the Meteor squad.
It was apparent right from the puck drop that everyone was energized and ready to play. Mitchell was focused and seemed to control the play for most of the game, coming away with a 4-0 victory.

The first period of the game saw a lot of action, mostly in Listowels end thanks to solid defense from Landon Van Bakel, Isaak Smith, Ben Kelly, Nate Uniac and Colby Faust. When the play did make it down to Mitchells end, Sebastian Voros would stand tall and shut the door, keeping the game deadlocked at zero.
The second period was much of the same, with the puck being controlled for the most part by the Meteors. Eventually, Ben Kelly was able to get the puck to an open Ava Harmer, who had some room to skate and made no mistake hitting the top corner of the net! Mitchell carried this 1-0 lead to the end of the second with Voros again making a couple key saves.
The relentless pressure of the Meteors seemed to wear down Listowel in the third period as our players continued to play strong. Early in the period, Landon Van Bakel would take advantage of some open ice, skating the puck all the way up and letting go a nice shot top corner to give Mitchell the 2-0 lead. Not long after Hudson Porter would put one in, assisted by Griffin Bree and Jake Richardson. Listowel was not able to keep up with the fast pace and the energy of the Meteors. Any chance that Listowel had to break out was foiled by Mitchells defense. Before the game was over, Bree would add a goal with assists going to Faust and Richardson. Mitchell came away with the 4-0 win thanks to a total team effort for the entire game.

Lets hope the team can take this energy up to Southampton this weekend when they take on the Saugeen Shores Storm on Saturday at 2:15pm.
