Atom AE Go 3-0 in Preseason Action
The Mitchell Meteors Atom AE team has had a successful start to the year, winning all three of their exhibition games. It has only taken a few ice times for these boys to begin to work well together as they look forward to the year ahead.

Preseason action started on October 4th when Mitchell hosted Wingham for an exhibition game. The first period began very slow for the home team and they quickly found themselves down 2-0. Eventually, the boys began to get their legs going nearing the end of the first. They got on the board with an end to end rush from defenceman Ben Kelly. However, Wingham did not let up and got one more goal before the first period ended, leaving Mitchell down 3-1. In the second period both teams battled hard, and Mitchell began to put some pressure on the visitors. Mitchell would be the only team to score that period, with a goal coming from Carson Brown assisted by Isaak Smith. The third period saw the home squad really start to push, resulting in another unassisted goal from Ben Kelly with two more goals added by Hudson Porter, assists going to Carson Brown and Landon VanBakel. Mitchell would come away with the 5-3 win!

One day later, Mitchell would host its second exhibition game, this time against Listowel. Most of the boys would remember them from last season as tough to beat! Again things started a little slow for the home team, allowing Listowel to get on the board early. Some key saves by Mitchells goalie, Sebastian Voros kept it a one goal game through to the end of the second period. Some of Mitchells players are more confident and playing a bit more of a physical game, resulting in many puck turnovers by Listowel. Mitchell continued the pressure into the third period, keeping much of the play in Listowels end. Finally after many shots, the boys were able to beat Listowels goalie. Mitchell goals came from Owen Beurmann, Carson Brown, Landon VanBakel and Jake Richardson. Assists went to Hudson Porter, Griffin Bree, Zack Siemon-Hergott and Beurmann. Another win for Mitchell with a final score of 4-1.

On October 7th, the boys would host their third exhibition game in preparation of the upcoming regular season. This time Twin Centers would be the test. Right from the drop of the puck, Mitchell seemed to be in control of the play. Throughout the game, Voros would see little action in Mitchells end. A great team effort as everyone worked on their positioning, passing and shots throughout the game. Goals came from Brown, Porter, VanBakel, Nate Uniac and Richardson. Assists from Porter, VanBakel, Kelly, Siemon-Hergott and Beurmann. In the end, Mitchell would come away with a 9-0 win.

Regular season begins as we host Wingham in Mitchell, Friday Oct 12th at 6:50pm.
