MacArthur Leads Novice Girls to Victory in Series Opener
Dodge Caravan Kids Novice C girls claim first win in the best of three series final against the West Oxford Inferno.

The Novice girls were out in full force looking for redemption after Sunday’s 3-0 round robin loss to the Inferno.  Ellie Macarthur opened the scoring in the first period with a nice breakaway goal as she drew the goalie to the side and fired it in.  The second goal came in similar fashion from MacArthur and was assisted by Amelia Wolfkamp.

More pressure was poured on by the Meteors in the second as it was clear they wanted the win.  The Novice girls managed to get multiple chances during a goalmouth scramble, but it was Phoebe Wood that would bang in the loose puck to put the home team on the board again. The assist went to Kayla Visneskie.

The third period saw even more goals on the board. MacArthur netted two more goals, one was a loose puck poked in, assisted by Elyn Hannon, and the other, like her first two goals by drawing the goalie out.  West Oxford was awarded a goal, but the lone goal was not enough to come back from such a deficit.  The last goal of the game was recorded by Kayla Visneskie assisted by Danika Voros.  The score was capped at 6-1 for the Meteors. Goaltender Ally VanBakel played well and made some great saves to keep the Meteors in the lead throughout the game.

The girls look to sweep the series and claim the championship in Embro Saturday.
