Novice C Girls Battle Hard in Provincial Qualifying Games.
The Dodge Caravan Kids Novice Girls played a home and away series against St. Marys Saturday and Sunday, with the winner of the two games moving on to provincials in April. In good team spirit, the girls all had their sticks taped purple for epilepsy awareness.

Game 1 in Mitchell showed the Meteors that the road to provincials would not be easy.  St.Marys applied great pressure throughout the game, but it would be Mitchell that would get on the board first.  Selina Gethke would get the puck to Danika Voros, who banked a shot off the back of the St. Marys goaltender.  St. Marys persisted, applying pressure and would be rewarded in the third with the tying goal.  Despite both teams efforts to gain the victory, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.  Meteors goalie Ellie MacArthur played an amazing game keeping the girls within reach of the victory making several key saves including two butt end stick saves and two goal line saves.

Game 2 took place in St. Marys.  The Meteors elevated their game and were looking to get the lead over the home team in the mini-series.  Both teams were keen for the win, as the defensive squad of Kinslee Horan, Elyn Hannon, Ally VanBakel, and Avery Smith did their best to keep the shots away from MacArthur, who played another fantastic game in net stopping some key shots.  The game remained scoreless for the first two periods. Part way through the third, the Meteors had a great scoring chance with Gethke and Alise Crawford driving to the net with a two on one but came up emptyhanded. Shortly after, St. Marys found themselves in great position and finally snuck one past MacArthur to take the lead in the game.  In the final minutes, Coach Hannon pulled the goalie for the extra attacker, and while the girls tried hard, it wasn’t quite enough to tie up the game, ending their chances of heading to Provincials.
