Weekend Win Against Stratford Warriors
The Dodge Caravan Kids Novice C Girls grabbed a win from Stratford on Saturday during the first of four provincial qualifying games.
The two teams played well against each other but Mitchell opened the scoring on a strong shot by Ellie MacArthur which bounced off the crossbar landing in the crease. Alise Crawford would be there in perfect position to bang in the rebound and put the Meteors up by one. Stratford persisted, but netminder Ally Vanbakel would deny the Stratford shooter in the closing seconds of the period.
The second period would have two goals scored by the Meteors' MacArthur, as she put away the rebound on Kayla Visneskies shot, as well as popping one over the goalies stick.
The third period was scoreless for the majority, but with around three minutes remaining, Stratford found a way to finally get one past VanBakel to make the final score 3-1.
