Hard Fought Loss for Novice Girls
Selina Gethke made many difficult saves in the 4-2 loss to St.Thomas
Panthers during the Meteors second game of the Tournament.
The first period only saw the Meteors down by one goal, with a few decent chances to equal the score. Unfortunately they came up short as the period closed.
In the second, the Panthers fired a couple high goals around the six minute mark that put the Meteors down by three. A couple shifts later the Meteors momentum picked up when Ellie MacArthur forced the puck past the Panthers netminder during a scrum out front. Assists went to Alise Crawford and Ally VanBakel. Morale picked up and just over a minute later, MacArthur found herself alone on a breakaway and made no mistake putting the puck away.
Despite the Girls strong efforts and some more spectacular saves by Gethke, The Panthers grabbed an insurance goal with less than two minutes left on the clock, The home team did not give up, but came up short. The Novice girls will face Lambeth on Saturday.
