Novice LL 2 team red hot as playoffs start
The dodge caravan Mitchell novice LL 2 team is red hot going 9-1 in there last.
The team just finished competing in the Dresden kinsmen tournament a couple weeks ago, and now have begun there playoff push. The squad had a good run in the Dresden tournament, attempting to win there 4th tournament of the year. The locals started off the tournament with 4 wins in a row in convincing fashion. With wins over Petrolia, lasalle, Mooretown and chatham the locals were flying into the finals as the team to beat. In the finals the locals played a tough wallaceburg team, who had a real strong goalie that was standing on his head all game. Wallaceburg played hard and were able to breakout on a late game breakaway to take the lead and never look back. Mitchell probably put 40 shots on the goalie but couldn't beat him to tie it up. The final ended in a 3-2 wallaceburg win and handed the locals the finalist medallions. The team was discouraged at first but since then it has proven to be a motivating factor to make them realize they need to have a full effort for the whole game if they want to succeed in the playoffs. Masen Houghton took home player of the tournament for Mitchell with his strong efforts on both ends of the ice. Houghton, reegan vessie and caleb pennings led the offense all weekend. All three of which will fly past the 50 goal barrier on the season. The 4 man defense core has been a staple for the team all year. Led by co captain Connor Wolfe, himself Carson Vosper, Landon Glauser, and Luke krempien are determined to not let the opposing team enter the scoring zone in front of the net. The 4 have played with structure discipline and toughness all year. The 2 headed monster goalie duo of Tatum vessie and Dylan dietrich have been racking up shutout after shutout all season. After Dresden the locals started there round robin playoffs with 2 wins against listowel and a tough seaforth team. The game against seaforth was a tough tight checking game, but the locals continued to pressure seaforth and at one point never let seaforth out of there own end for a 3 minute stretch. The games were won 2-1 against seaforth and 8-2 against listowel. Call up wes berendsen added a hatrick to the scoresheet against listowel in the offensive explosion. All year the motto has been the same with this team. We skate hard and attack with our whole team, every single player gives it there all for the team
