Weekend Split For JP Uniac Atom Girls HL
Atom HL Girls played two strong games this weekend finishing up with a win and a loss against two strong opponents.

Saturday night the JP Uniac Insurance Atom HL Girls hosted West Oxford Inferno C.  The game started with a strong forcheck by the visitors who fired multiple shots at Ally Vogels in the Meteors net.  After a few minutes the locals found their legs and began a counter attack on the Inferno.  This game would be a tight checking affair with both teams playing well at both ends of the rink.  Midway through the second, Brooklyn French would finally get a goal on the board with Tegan Mace and Alissa Insley drawing assists.  That would be the only scoring of the game as the locals celebrated a well deserved 1-0 win.  Vogels picked up her second shutout of the young season between the pipes aided by the strong backchecking and defensive play of the team.

Sunday afternoon the girls hosted Wallaceburg C in Monkton.  Again the locals would strike first as Insley streaked down the wing, breaking free and scoring with Mace drawing the assist.  The lead would be short lived as the vistitors tied it up just 2 minutes later.  Wallaceburg took the lead in the second, only to have French answer back with a goal assisted by Mace.  Two unanswered Wallaceburg goals in the third put this game out of reach, despite a strong push by the Meteors with a late powerplay and the goalie pulled for an extra attacker.

The girls see action Thursday night as they open up their own Mitchell Minor Girls Tournament against Lucan Ilderton.
