Great Start
Sunday, October 22 saw the first game for the MCR Mitchell
Atom Local League vs Zurich Thunder in Monkton. The Meteors came ready to
play and were off to a flying start. The first score of the game came
from Defenseman Jackson Kaufmann from the point. The action was fast on
both sides and provided great entertainment for the fans. Bentley
Phillips from Rogan Catalan and Griffin Bree locked in our 2nd goal
with less than a minute left in the first.
Zurich snuck in their first goal 2 minutes into the second. Mitchell charged ahead with one more goal in the second coming from Rogan Catalan from Tyler Scherbarth and Bradley Dearing. The action got a little heated with the Mitchell boys falling to 3 successive penalties resulting in a second Zurich goal. In the third period, Mitchell got back down to business scoring twice more with the 4th goal by Tyler Scherbarth from Zackary Siemon-Hergott and the 5th by Rogan Catalan from Tyler Scherbarth. Exceptional defense and solid goaltending by Aedan McCann kept Zurich at bay to end the game with a final score 5-2. Great start to the year boys. Keep up the good work.
