Renewed Sense of Determination over the Weekend
On Friday the McLaughlin's Auto Wholesaling Novice Rep team faced off with the Central Perth Predators in Monkton.  The boys were fortunate to have Abigayle VanBakel join their roster for this exhibition game.  Landon VanBakel and Owen Beureman both played very well and each scored a goal however, it was Abigayle VanBakel who gave all the boys a lesson on puck handling and determination.

Each time she stepped on the ice she kicked into high gear weaving in and out with the puck glued to her stick making several shots on net.  Way to go Abigayle!  As the game continued, the Meteors pressured the Predator goalie with many shots however not enough found their way into the net so the scored ended 5-2 in favour of the Predators.

Saturday proved to be much different as the boys challenged the Howick Hornets to an exhibition game in Monkton.  It seemed as though a new Novice Meteor team skated onto the ice with a renewed sense of determination and skill.  Each one of them was faster, smarter, better skilled and confident.  The fans in the stands kept looking at each other wondering who these boys were.  Their teamwork was evident as they increased their passing from one player to the other.  Effective play-making assists were made by Carson Lubbers and Landon VanBakel, while Austin Judge, Colby Faust, and Nathan Uniac scored the goals to win the game at 4-2.  Special mention goes to Austin Judge who was on fire as he outskated numerous opponents to the puck and made two strong goals.  Way to go Austin!

The Novice Rep Meteors take on the Seaforth Stars this coming Saturday at the Mitchell arena.  They tied the Stars a few weeks ago so the boys will be itching to settle the score with a win this time.  Come on out and cheer them on.
