Scotiabank Bantam Rep - OMHA Update
The Mitchell Bantam Rep Boys team has moved on to the OMHA quarter finals against Hanover Falcons.  The series started on Tuesday February 7th in Mitchell.

The Meteors came out flying, creating lots of opportunities just not enough to fill the net.  The period ended 0-0. In the second period the boys came to life with 2 goals from Declan Catalan, and one from Logan Harmer in the dying seconds. Going into the third the Meteors had a 3-0 lead and were not taking a shift off.  Evan Morrison sealed the game with his goal and third point of the night. Helpers also came from Caleb Tweddle, Logan Harmer, Kyle Richardson, Karsen Eisler and Declan Catalan.  Mitchell leads the series 1-0 and travels to Hanover Wednesday night for game 2.

Mitchell Meteors headed north to Hanover to continue the series in the OMHA quarter finals.  Mitchell started strong with a goal on the first shift of the game by Declan Catalan.  Mitchell controlled most of the play but could not capitalize on their opportunities. With some hard work and determination, the Meteors got a second goal, on a brilliant tic tac toe play by Kase Schoonderwoerd and Declan Catalan, giving him his second goal. Mitchell built a 3-0 lead, with a goal from Caleb Tweedle, then slowly took the foot of the pedal.  Hanover battled back scoring two power play goals to get within one goal.   Going into the third Mitchell held a 3-2 lead and would slowly start putting more pressure on Hanover, but could not beat the Hanover keeper.  The game ended with Hanover on a power play and the goalie pulled, all the parents were on the edge of their seats, when the smoke cleared the Meteors held on to secure the win, and take a 2-0 lead in the series.  Game 3 is in Hanover on Saturday at 7pm.

The Bantam Meteor boys rep team was in Hanover this weekend, hoping to close out the series with Hanover and continue on to the OMHA semi finals.   Hanover was in a do or die situation losing the first two games.  Mitchell needed a strong game to hold off a feisty Hanover team.  Hanover took advantage of what seemed to be a sluggish start by the Meteors and surmounted a 2-0 lead in the first period.  A lot of chances were created but none found the back of the net. It was promising to see the boys battle even when the bounces were not going their way.  The second period didn’t change anything and Ryan Bell did his best not to let Hanover build on their lead. The third period seemed to be a good opportunity for the Meteors to shake of the travel legs and start playing better hockey.   Mitchell took advantage of some hard work by Logan Harmer to break the ice and get Mitchell on the score board.  Minutes later Zach McPhee netted two more and that was topped off with more tough, grinding, hard work by Logan Harmer to score his second of the game.  When the final buzzer sounded they had blazed back with four unanswered goals, to close the series out and capture the right to move on.  As well the Mitchell Meteors also captured the WOAA title with that win. Congratulations boys on a great come from behind win and never giving up!!  The next series is still not determined, so please follow the website for updates on the semi final series.  Thanks to all the parents and family for making the journey to support the boys.
