Scotiabank Bantam Rep Team Meets Up With Kincardine
The Mitchell Meteors have started the New Year with some new found confidence, soaring past the Kincardine Kinucks.

The Bantam Rep Boys hockey team have had a long layoff since a disappointing SilverStick over the Christmas break.  Now its crunch time, having to face the Silverstick host and finalist Kincardine Kinucks, in their first game of the playoffs.  Oddly enough the game was played on Friday the 13th.  The Kinucks got out to an early lead 3 minutes into the game and would hold on to that lead until the second period.  As the game wore on Mitchell seemed to be picking up momentum and taking the game to Kincardine.  The team needed a spark and it got just that from Kase Schoonderwoerd, who sent Declan Catalan on a break away to tie the game with 3 minutes left.
With 1:26 left in the 2nd and playing with the man advantage,  Kyle Richardson scored to give Mitchell their first lead of the game. Zach McPhee gave the Meteors a two goal advantage 22 seconds later,  The third period became a penalty filled period,  but the Meteors held firm even though the Kincardine boys put the pressure on. The pressure was on Kincardine as they were facing only their second loss of the year.  As the third period came to an end Ben Small netted another power play goal, and the game ended 4-2.  It was obvious what a good team Kincardine was, so a huge amount of credit goes to these boys for playing with so much heart and determination.
