Novice C Girls Trump Stratford Aces
On Jan 3 the Perth County Chrysler Novice C Girls played an exhibition game vs the Stratford Aces.  In what was reported as a very well played game by both teams, the Meteors came out on top, winning 3-1.  The game was a back and forth affair with both teams exchanging scoring chances, Mitchell however, was able to capitalize on more of theirs.

Again, Grace Kipfer was her superb self, as she turned away several quality chances sent her way by a very offensively talented Stratford team.  The Meteors were able to get on the board first as Kara Rolph scored at the 3:42 mark of the first period.  The Aces would answer quickly after, but that would be the only chink in Kipfer's armour.  In the second period Jayda Houben would be the benefactor of well drawn up offensive zone face off play.  She would "sega genesis" one time the face off win of Danielle Harmer to put the Meteors up by one.  Ashley McLeod's unassisted effort would add the insurance marker early in the third.  The "rock solid" defence of Jessie Horan, Alissa Insley, Rylee Kipfer and Heather Ogilvie would help shut things down after that.  Zoey Michel, Ava Harmer and Camryn Medhurst would also play a strong game working the puck out of their own end and also provide the forecheck in the Aces zone.

The girls compete in the "Pink on the Rink" tourney this weekend in South Huron, and the girls were spotted leaving Thursdays practice with a pair of brand new pink skate laces.  I am sure many hockey parents were very busy relacing skates as they watched the Canada-USA gold medal game.  I say get rid of the shoot out to decide a gold medal, I could have watched two or three more overtime periods of that type of exciting hockey!

Good luck on the weekend, I hope a shoot out is not required!

As of post time the Meteors had tied the South Huron Sabres 0-0 in their first game of the tournament, game details were not available.
