Playoff Weekend Wrap-up
Over the past weekend the Perth County Chrysler Dodge Caravan Kids Novice girls team played three more playoff games.  All three games were in the OWHA playdowns with a trip to Provincials on the line.  The Meteors battled hard and were in all three games, unfortunately coming up on the losing sides of two before bouncing back on Sunday for a big win in Stratford.

The weekend kicked off on Friday night as the girls got the prime time ice slot here in Mitchell.  Their opponents would be the South Huron Sabres B team.  The game was well contested by both sides, unfortunately the Meteors offence ran dry and the Sabres were able to score one to take the 1-0 win.
Saturday had the Meteors traveled to Clinton to take on the Huron Heat B team.  Again the girls battled hard, and after finding themselves down by one after one, dug deep and were able to tie the game up in the second period.  Ashley McLeod smashed home a rebound and Ava Harmer was credited with the assist.  The girls went into the third period tied at 1.  Both teams had their chances in the third, however the Heat's sniper found some room and was able to beat Grace Kipfer with a hard wrist shot.  The Meteors would not give up and pushed to the final buzzer, but would be unable to tie things up.
Sunday the girls traveled to Stratford to tangle with the Aces.  You would think the girls would be sluggish after two tough games already on the weekend, however the conditioning that the girls have endeared all season paid off.  Kara Rolph had a monster day recording a hat trick.  Ashley McLeod would score the Meteors other goal and strong team defence and G.Kipfer would limit the Aces to a single goal.  A. Harmer, Jayda Houben and Danielle Harmer would earn assists in the game.  The Meteors would end the weekend with a convincing 4-1 win.
The girls now hit the road this upcoming weekend with games in Exeter, Chatham and St. Thomas.  Pack your lunches and Justin Bieber CD's, and as Gordie Howe would say, "work hard, and have fun!"
