Novice Girls Finish up WOGHL First Round of Playoffs
The Perth County Chrysler Dodge Caravan Kids Novice C girls finished up their first round of the WOGHL division 1 playoffs over the past weekend.  On Friday the girls headed to Ilderton to battle the Jets and finished up at home on Saturday vs the St. Thomas Panthers.

Fridays game in Ilderton would be a formidable battle.  Both teams who are very familiar with one another were battling for top spot in division 1, and hopefully home ice in the league finals.  The Meteors were the better team in the first period, and when the horn sounded to end the period, they were up 2-0.  Danielle Harmer scored an unassisted beauty, as she went with her patented backhand/forehand move to fool the Jets tender.  Kara Rolph surprised the goalie with a quick low shot, assists on her goal went to D. Harmer and Alissa Insley.  The Jets would not lie down, and behind an energetic home crowd (I believe their heaters were dialed a little higher), rallied back to score one in the second and the tying goal in the third.  The teams then battled back and forth, and with seconds left the puck squirted loose to Ashley McLeod who fired a hard shot towards the Jets net.  The Ilderton keeper dove across the crease with cat like reflexes and made an amazing save to keep the game tied.  This is how the game would end.

The St. Thomas Panthers braved the road conditions on Saturday and made the trip to Mitchell for the final round robin game.  The Meteors controlled play for most of the game, however the Panther goalie would limit the Meteors to only two goals.  Both were scored by Kara Rolph, with Ava Harmer picking up an assist on Rolph's first.  Grace Kipfer would stop everything that came her way and earn the shut out.  The teams defence as a whole played well, and was able to break the puck out with surgical precision.  The Meteors would take the game 2-0.

Congratulations to the team and coaching staff for finishing first in the division 1 round robin.  It appears they will face the Ilderton Jets in the WOGHL finals.  Good luck team!!!
