The McLaughlins Wholesaling Novice Rep team took on Central Perth Drives on Saturday, January 7th, 2017 at the Elma-Logan Arena. Central Perth was coming into this game on a hot streak of 4 wins out of their last 5 games. The Meteors would come out strong and keep Central Perth off the score board in the first period and limit them to 1 goal in the second. But the pressure was to strong and the Meteors would eventually succumb to the Drives offensive pressure in the third with 5 goals scored against. This game would end in a loss 6 - 2.
Keeping the game close through two(2) periods of play would be the outstanding performance in net by Aedan McCann and the defense of Cohen Ahrens, Elijah Bender, Griffin Bree and Jonah Gibbings.
The first period would see Mitchell Meteors open the scoring with a goal from Logan Verberne assisted by a face off win from Ethan Jarmuth and a pass from recent call up Landon VanBakel. Mitchell would take the first period 1- 0. In the second period the Drives would tie the game at the 6:56 mark and the period would end in a 1-1 tie.
The Drives would add five goals in the third period with the lone Mitchell goal coming from Max Hannon on another exceptional pass from Ethan Jarmuth.
Mitchell will take on Mount Forest in Elma-Logan on January 14th, 2017.
