Kincardine Silver Stick Tournament
The McLaughlins Wholesaling Novice Rep team went into the Kincardine Silverstick tournament and played three strong games over the Christmas break in Ripley.

Game one, December 27th saw the team meeting the Hanover Falcons for the first time this season.  The Meteors started out slowly, falling 2-0 before they were able to notch a point on the scoreboard with a shot from the blue line by Braden Hoegy during the first.   However, as the game went on, the team found their stride, led by Max Hannon with great neutral zone plays that carried the puck deep into the Kinucks zone, and the help of Jonah Gibbings and Griffin Bree on the blue line, kept the falcons from going ahead during the second.  During the third period, the Meteors were able to secure three additional goals coming from Ryan Glauser (assisted by Ryan Klumper) a rebound shot from Hoegy for his second of the game, and a goal from off the face off by Ethan Jarmuth, however these wouldn’t be enough as the team fell 6-4 in a tightly matched, exciting game.  Aedan McCann had a good game in net making several impressive saves including one that ricocheted off of his helmet!

Game two was also played on the 27th and saw the Meteors meeting the Kincardine Kinucks who they have met up with during regular season play.  Six goals were scored in the first for Kincardine, before Ryan Glauser brought the Meteors into the game when he shot the puck from the point with just seconds remaining in the first period.  Mitchell wasn’t able to locate the back of the net during the remainder of the game, and fell 8-1 against the home team.

The third game played on the 29th saw the Meteors meeting with the Saugeen Storm who were undefeated heading into the final day of the tournament.  Mitchell opened the game strong and got up on the scoreboard first with a beautiful shot by Ryan Klumper assisted by Matthew Menheere that pulled the Meteors ahead of the Storm.  Excellent defensive work from Griffin Bree, Jonah Gibbings, Cohen Ahrens, and Braden Hoegy kept the Storm from getting a shot on the net, which left the Storm trailing by one heading into the second period.  Saugeen tied the game mid-way through the second, and with the help of forwards Ryan Glauser, Logan Verberne, and Bryce Dixon digging for the puck along the boards, and making clean passes out to their linemates Ethan Jarmuth and Max Hannon, they were able to keep the puck inside the Storm’s zone, and the score tied going into the third period.  During the final period Cohen Ahrens sailed an amazing wrist shot that dropped in between the pipes to score Mitchell’s second and final goal of the game.  The Storm would add four additional goals throughout the third, to secure their win in the 6-2 outcome for the Storm. Aedan McCann had a good tournament in net.

Great team effort throughout the tournament boys, way to make everyone proud!!

After a a slight break in the schedule, game action resumes for the Reps, with an exhibition game against Central Perth on January 7th, followed by a regular season game against the Mount Forrest Rams on January 14th.
